Updates, and I LOVE THE CLASS OF 2011 :)

21 March 2010

I realised that I haven’t posted anything in two months — oh dearr, is that an all-time low? — and it’s quite hard to summarise the days from January 16 to this day in a nutshell, but I shall attempt to do so right about… now:

  • January 23 – took the SAT. It was an interesting day because I ended up taking the wrong jeepney and going in the opposite direction from where I wanted to go. The cab ride was expensive. HOWEVER, I was able to watch two — no, three — movies that night: Sherlock Holmes, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and (on DVD) Jennifer’s Body, which was horrible!!
  • SAT result: 1920 (610/640/670)
  • February 6 – Family Fun Day and Band-Aid. This was fun, and I realised that for the next 7 weeks I would be in something school-related every Saturday…
  • February 13 – Angel’s debut, which was awesome because everyone was dressed up, all in black, and everything was so elegant. Some people got drunk, though, but that’s not the point. The point is that it was a night to remember for everyone, from the celebrant to the guests to the crazy alcoholics on the sidelines.
  • February 20 – PREP trip. I’d never been to one of those before and it was a very interesting experience. We went to Tagaytay and taught some kids in a rural public school for a couple of hours (it was literally just 2-3 hours, though more time would have been great!!). On our way back to Manila we got stranded because the driver had LBM.
  • February 27 – Testing for next year’s incoming scholars. I don’t know what to think; I just hope they pick the right people who will really take advantage of what the school has to offer. I was in school the entire day because of CulCon previews, so I hung about the swim meet in between those two events. Our school’s IASAS Drama and Dance are the best. Always.
  • March 4-6 – IASAS Art & Music. Our school hosted and I volunteered as a videographer. On the Saturday morning I had to come to school to edit together a 3-minute video (out of about 3-4 hours of footage) within about two hours. It was extremely intense for both Kento and myself. CulCon was fun, I guess, but it would have been much better if I was in Taipei for Forensics again this year. It sucks to be on the sidelines.
  • March 11 – Started working out at the fitness room for CAS hours.
  • March 13 – Child Hope came to school for Saturday Service. I went. It was a lot of fun but also sort of heartbreaking at times. There were some moments then that I really, really, really liked, but all they did was eventually make me very, very confused. However, I refuse to elaborate on this.
  • March 15 – Had a bit of a rage spell.
  • March 17-18 – Started working out with the trainer’s help. I got DOMS on Friday and Saturday and I still have it now I think.
  • March 19-20 – Just came from that last night, actually. JUNIOR CLASS OVERNIGHT AT MATABUNGKAY. It was a lot of fun, though I preferred the beach on the chilly night than in the sweltering hot morning. I was burning up with a fever by the time I got home. Not much to say but it was a lot of fun. I love my class… I just wish that certain people who weren’t there were… and by this I’m referring to people who left/moved away… Our class would otherwise have been pretty much perfect.

And so I now find myself here, in my room, unable to go to church because it’s so hot outside and I have a massive headache and a fever still. Aside from that I also have a ton of homework to do for the upcoming week. With four days until spring break I never thought I’d be under so much pressure, especially since I’m going away for a week to hopefully join Mission Youth in Batangas. Before that, though, I have to do an English major, an English medium, Psychology homework, Math homework, a Math quiz, a seven-page screenplay for my IB film and a revised independent study resource list, also for IBHL Film. Surely, the first semester of IB Diploma is no indication of the second semester. I can only imagine what next semester will be like.

How to keep these…

My grades are pretty good right now, though I need to bring Psych up to an A… and make sure English and Film don’t get any lower. With Film, especially, I can’t afford my grade to drop. GPA does matter, especially when you’re a first decile student in the first semester. Getting there is cake; it’s staying there that’s the challenge, especially after exams in May. oh dearrrr.

I’m out of things to say because right now everything is rather banal. I have a lot of homework (as usual), I have a fever (as usual) and I need a shower (as usual).

Shower time.

Nothing to write about right now, really, but I felt that I really had to update at least one of my blogs.

19 November 2009

Between my last post and this one I’ve been keeping myself busy with a couple things. There’s watching Big Brother every night at 10, making sure I get all my work done before then, trying my best to keep up with the music these silly kids listen to these days (I am not musically retarded!!), tryouts for Forensics, having to write a BT article by SATURDAY (it was assigned today), all the crazy stuff I have to do for IBHL English (IB oral soon!!), SAT preparations, and, of course, trying to keep my mental, social and most importantly my emotional health from falling apart, the latter of which has been rather down since yesterday, midday. It was so horrible I actually had a physical headache, and today I found myself tearing up. Sad stuff.

While waiting for Skins series 4 to come out, I’ve found another E4 show to watch for the next few weeks. It’s called Misfits and it’s basically Skins except they’re a bunch of ASBO’d pricks with crazy superpowers that I don’t think anyone would really want (except Curtis, cos he can turn back time when he does something he regrets, which is one thing I’d love to do once in a while, especially for a bunch of things that happened in the past couple of months). The concept is pretty simple and sounded rather dumb when I first heard about it. I mean, it’s about a bunch of kids who get struck by lightning while doing community service and then end up with these crazy powers. The chav can read people’s thoughts, which basically consist of people calling her a chav, the horny black girl can turn guys into crazy rapists when they touch her, and the creepy almost-arsonist turns invisible when he already feels invisible (because no one talks to him). I already mentioned the other guy.

Oh, and there’s this other, other guy in it — he’s played by Robert Sheehan, the Irish guy in Cherrybomb whom I referred to as the ‘curly indie boy’ — well he’s just absolutely hilarious. He didn’t get any special powers or anything. I think the world just hates him or something. It’s quite sad since he’s by far the fittest of them all.

Also, aside from that, IASAS Forensics auditions are ongoing. I had my Original Oratory audition on Monday, but I’m pretty scared since there are a lot of really really goood people who signed up, and in the end only three people are actually going to Taipei. I may have gotten in last year, but the pool of competition is so intense that OO is actually probably the hardest event to go to for two years in a row. This afternoon I have my Oral Interpretation audition. I think I’m gonna do “Daddy” by Sylvia Plath. It’s a poem that I’ve never really read before, and I find it really weird. I think I’ll just wing it and not care if I don’t make first cut. I’ll try out for impromptu as well. But I suck at that kind of stuff. Speaking spontaneously. It’s horrendously difficult.

Oh, and New Moon is coming out this week. I’m not watching it, though. I’m gonna go see 2012 first. Twilight can wait until all the scary fangirls die down (or just die, pretty much). I’m thinking of more random stuff to write about right now. type type type

Since I gave this the ‘music’ tag as well I guess it would be in order to talk about how lost I am with all the ‘awesome new music’ these days. I mean, Owl City? Seriously? How did the soundtrack of about a month of my freshman year end up topping the charts? I don’t mind Owl City that much, he’s cool when I need him to be, but hearing him on the Manila airwaves is just a little bit awkward. He’s getting too popular. See, now, when he goes out of style, he’ll just be another one-hit wonder, another has-been. That would be sad. BUT if he didn’t go all mainstream, he’ll be cool forever. True story. Sad, but true.

Another sad story was a short one I read last night, “On Seeing the 100% Perfect Girl One Beautiful April Morning” by Haruki Murakami. But I’m actually too lazy to write about that right now since I’ve already reached more than 700 words.

This is crazy. I can write 700 words of BS and not about Pacquiao, really? He’s the national hero! Oh yeah, good job with the Cotto fight. I hate boxing.

OH GOD I JUST SAW THE ITUNES CHART AND I AM BOUT TO SHOOT MYSELF. See tumblr for details.

Today’s Downloads!! Woo!!

15 August 2009

I didn’t get to download too many from leaked, but it’s my first time downloading music in a while.

The latest additions to my library are as follows:

  1. Cobra Starship, Hot Mess
  2. 3OH!3, “Don’t Trust Me (Alternative Guitar Version)
  3. Boys Like Girls, “She’s Got A Boyfriend Now”
  4. Anberlin, “Naive Orleans”
  5. Modest Mouse, No One’s First And You’re Next
  6. Frankmusik, Complete Me

Unfortunately, my attempt at snagging the latest As Tall As Lions album failed. It’s absolutely frustrating.

However, I have reached a new Facebook milestone:

I didn’t cheat, either, I promise!!

Also, I’m not going to Singapore anymore. I have my priorities set, and that trip just isn’t one of them anymore. This Halloween better be awesome, then, especially since I’ll be here in Manila.

God, I have so much to do for this week!! I haven’t started anything, either, which is kind of horrible on my part. English, Math and Psychology.. you’re just gonna have to wait a little bit longer. MUN.. yeah. Sure. Soon.

I don’t understand what happened to my Tumblarity. Anyway, I update my tumblelog more frequently than this one.

Much love.

You’re a virgin who can’t drive.

2 June 2009

-90 days since.

The unipin doodles have invaded my Geography notebook!! In fact, the black ink scribbles have also taken over pages of my Physics notebook, scratch paper, handouts and, of course, my school planner, whose pages from the last eight or so months of school have been ripped out last week by yours truly. With one and a half days of school remaining on the calendar, this is a pretty good time to take a step back, and then a step forward, and then a step back, and then a step forward.. and another step back to reflect on the past year.

Although I have the tendency to refuse to accept that I have changed at all during the past year, I can’t deny the truth about the difference a day makes. I could, for example, spend a week daydreaming and obsessing about a person, trip or activity, but all it took was three lines of text to change everything. In all honesty I’m not too bothered that my planned trip to Singapore has been cut in half in terms of the number of nights that I’ll be spending there. Sure, I may have spent at least 48 hours just looking up hotel and airline feels and pumping myself up for something that’ll take place five-ish months from now, but two nights ago my level of enthusiasm was cut in half in a matter of ten seconds. Though I probably won’t be able to do everything I plan to do there, it’s better to have a short trip than not going at all.

Checking over my WordPress and Livejournal blogs, I realised that recently I have been thinking in bullet points. None of my thoughts seem to have much meaning to them. They’re not worth explaining. So I move on to the next thought. And the next. And the next. If my thoughts aren’t coherent enough then I’m sorry. I apologise that I have to append to that list of bullet-point entries, though. These are the ten things that I am excited for at the moment:

  1. The end of sophomore year.
  2. Getting yearbooks tomorrow afternoon.
  3. The start of summer vacation. Mina’s staying in Manila!!
  4. Being able to sleep in for as long as I want to.
  5. Singapore in October. Just because I said my enthusiasm was cut in half doesn’t mean I’m not excited anymore. I was overexcited before, and so now I’m just excited.
  6. Watching summer movies, especially Transformers 2 and Half-Blood Prince. Mina watch with me!!
  7. Coming back to school in August and seeing all the new people. I’m always excited for new people, and I’m curious to see the new BSM posse coming to the school.
  8. Seeing Allen in August, as well as whoever is coming to visit this summer.
  9. Turning 17 in September. Oh my freakin’ days.
  10. Okay, so maybe I’m not excited for ten things. I’m actually quite bored right now.

One and a half more days.

xx
